Privacy

HeckNo is a self-defence course and practice app for iPhone. This policy explains what happens to information when you use the app and this website. It is written by [YOUR NAME], who is responsible for both (see the Impressum).

What the app does not do

• No account. You never sign up, sign in or give your name, email address or phone number.
• No uploads. The app makes no connections to our servers or anyone else’s. It works fully offline.
• No recording. The camera is used live to track the position of your body during drills. The microphone is used live to measure how loud a shout is. Video and audio are processed on your phone as they happen and are never saved, sent or shown to anyone.
• No tracking or advertising. There are no analytics, advertising or tracking tools in the app, and your activity is never linked to you across other apps or websites.

What stays on your phone

To show your progress, the app keeps a small file on your phone. It holds:

• which lessons you have finished and the results of your practice sessions, for example the number of repetitions and how many were clean;
• your movement check results and fitness level;
• the country and age band you chose, so the help screen shows the right support lines;
• your language and reminder settings;
• your weekly answer to “How sure are you that you’d say no out loud?”, if you choose to give one;
• which lesson questions you have reviewed and when each is due again.

This file is protected by your phone’s encryption and is readable only by the app. You can erase all of it in one step in the app’s Settings. Deleting the app also deletes it. The answers to the safety questions at the start are not stored; only whether you chose the gentle track is kept.

Notifications

If you allow them, reminders and the note two days before a free week ends are scheduled on your phone. They are not sent from a server, and nobody else learns about them.

Apple Health (optional)

If you turn on “Save workouts to Apple Health” in Settings, each practice session is saved to the Health app on your phone as a workout (type, start and end time). HeckNo never reads anything from Health, and we never receive this data. Anyone who can open your unlocked phone can see these workouts in the Health app. The setting is off unless you turn it on.

Siri and Shortcuts

HeckNo offers two shortcuts, “Start my practice” and “Before you go out”. They only open the app. Anything you say to Siri is handled by Apple under Apple’s privacy terms.

Purchases

Subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple. We do not receive your payment details or your name. Apple tells the app only whether a subscription is active.

Help lines

The help screen lists phone numbers and websites of support services. If you call or open one, you are contacting that service directly, under its own privacy terms. HeckNo is not told.

This website

• Hosting. This website is served by Cloudflare, Inc. When you visit, Cloudflare’s servers process your IP address and technical details of the request (such as the page and the time) to deliver the page and to protect the site from attacks. This is our legitimate interest in running a secure website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Cloudflare is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
• No cookies that track you. The website sets no cookies for analytics or advertising. See Cookies.
• Fonts and images are served from this website itself, not from third parties.
• Email. If you write to us, we use your email and message only to answer you, and delete them when they are no longer needed.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct and erase your data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability. Because the app collects nothing, there is usually nothing we hold about you. You can also complain to a data protection authority, for example the one where you live.

Age

HeckNo is for people aged 16 and over.

Changes

If the app ever starts collecting information, for example to sync progress between devices, this policy will be updated before that version is released, and the app will ask you first.
